I don’t think I’ve ever been so glad to walk half an hour to work in a storm.
As anyone on the East Coast can attest, this past week’s oppressively sweltering heat wave was brutal, and rain has never been more welcome.

It was miserable, to say the least, to walk the 3-mile round trip to work in triple digit temperatures and atmosphere so humid you could’ve drowned in it. Needless to say, turning the oven on was nowhere to be found on my agenda, especially considering that I live in a lovely non-air conditioned apartment. Still, I had such an urge to bake something (then again, when don’t I?), and it had been almost two weeks since the cookies and cream bars.

What a conundrum.
…which was easily solved by a deceivingly simple, but exceptionally delicious recipe for Oreo balls.

These will blow your mind.
All you need is three easy ingredients, some pent-up frustration to crush the Oreos, and a microwave to create little chocolate-covered pieces of happiness.
I have always gotten rave reviews on these babies. Some have even claimed that the O in Oreo balls actually stands for orgasmic.
I won’t argue that.

And if that doesn’t make you want to try these, I don’t know what will.
Here’s how to make them.

adapted from Bakerella
Ingredients
1 package Oreo cookies
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
White chocolate almond bark or candy melts
Chocolate chips for decorative drizzling, Oreo crumbs, sprinkles, etc.
Crush cookies and stir in softened cream cheese. Use the back of a large spoon to help mash the two together.
Roll the mixture into 1″ balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet.
Melt chocolate as directed on the package, then dip balls into chocolate, tap off the excess, and set aside on a wax-paper-lined cookie sheet to dry.
You can sprinkle the tops with crushed cookies or sprinkles for decoration. I personally think it looks pretty to drizzle them with a contrasting color of chocolate to make them look like truffles. Once dry, refrigerate and enjoy!
